Art Journaling

OK, I never saw this coming! On one of my art book buying sprees, I acquired the book, "Art At The Speed Of Life" by Pam Carriker. I read through it once, and figured that it wasn't for me. It was mostly about making an art journal, and I didn't think that would interest me. Of course, I was wrong!

Lately, I've been spending a lot on time on the computer, watching as many videos as I can on youtube. And, I got involved with a bunch on art journaling. When I was young, I never even kept a diary - cause I was afraid that someone would see it, and figure out what a loser I was! I had to have perfect spelling, grammar and punctuation. I still fear sending out a post or an email with a misspelled word! Heaven Forbid!

So, I guess you can see why I would be hesitant to put my art in a journal. But, now I realize that it's a great place to try out new techniques, play around with color and figure out how to draw. If I feel like posting it, so be it - but no problem if I don't!

So now I'm interested - do you keep an art journal?

Nope, but I sure like your's! I always have ideas in my head of keeping a sketch pad oh so perfect. As soon as I find a doodle in (Yes, my name is Sherry and I am a doodler.) it or really bad sketches, I tend to put them aside, waste all the good paper in them and never touch them again. Why? Because I am embarrassed of myself!

Well Nancy I don't think I have to tell you about my art journals. you've seen them, but as you know they are not personal art journals but art journals with a theme.. I think you have a Nature one?

Yes, Barbra, I have the "Nature" one from you -- I still look at it and am in awe of what you do!

And, Sherry - it's so good to finally know your name! Thanks for all your nice comments!

I also have "Art at the Speed of Life", I love the book and I "sort of" art journal...I mainly use my journals for a place to "play" free from the fear of ruining a canvas or an expensive piece of paper. I love to try new art supplies and new techniques in my art journals. I don't have a single one finished and they are all totally random, but I have art journals all over the place! In my home, in my car, in my purse, in my art space etc...I'm glad you've discovered art journaling. It will launch your art into new and exciting directions!
