Another Fun Class!

Another successful class today!  Even though it was a small class, it was so much fun!  All of these ladies have been dabbling in art, so they came with a lot of enthusiasm and were anxious to learn!
I just want to thank Louise, Rachel and Judi for a fun day!

And then when I got home - I had some goodies that came in the mail!  Two books - "Brave Intuitive Painting", by Flora Bowley and "The Pulse of Mixed Media", by Seth Apter -  along with a DVD - "Acrylics: Textures, Layers and Metallics", from Jacqueline Sullivan.

I've already started diving in -- and I'm loving it!  Especially the book by Flora Bowley.  It's all about finding your own unique painting style - being bold!  Just what I need!

Abstract Class #3

So, this week, we're playing with shapes.  One exercise is to repeat a shape all over the page, then add color, lines, scribbles, along with the kitchen sink!  Now, I know that this is not the end, it's only the middle - so I'm trying to be patient and hope that when I'm finished with the class I might be able to create the kind of abstracts that I'm drawn to.

Who knows, maybe I'll just have to take another class!

Abstract Class, Week 2

This week's class is all about color.  So we're practicing just laying down color, adding lines, making a mess!  (That part is easy for me)  I keep wanting to make something out of it, but Alisa says that we will be doing that later.  For now, just playing with color and lines.

Another Great Collage Class!

So, I had another "Creative Collage Workshop" today!  My sister lives in Oak Bend Village - here in Dunnellon, and I did a little class with some of her friends.  Below, you will see their magnificant artwork!  I think they all did a fabulous job.

Sorry for the way the photos are stacked .. I still can't figure out how to get them where I want them!  This darned Blogspot just has a mind of it's own.  Oh well, I just wanted them to be able to show their art to all their friends!  What a nice group of ladies!

Call Me Crazy ...

I'm giving another "Creative Collage Workshop" on Tuesday.  Since I'll be going over to set up on Monday, I decided to get everything ready today.

I provide EVERYTHING for my students - and I want them to have the best experience, so I just bring it ALL!  All my paints, stamps, stencils, brushes and papers are for them to play with!  It might be easier to just take some of it, but I never can figure out what to leave behind.  And, since I will be doing demos, I never know what I'll need.

So, for my next trick, I'm going to figure out a class that I can teach that doesn't use so much stuff!!

The Queen and her Court

Before I play some more with abstracts, I decided to finish this collage I started yesterday.  I love how when you start a collage, you're not sure what it's going to be.  Then, something yells at you and says,"Look at this!", and then it begins!  Of course, the focal point had to be the crown, but I didn't know it when I glued that piece of paper down.  And, I had a bird cut out, and when the crown fit, well, what else could I do?  I imagine the ladies are planning a ball for all of their bird friends!

First Abstract Lesson

So, for the beginning of Alisa's abstract class we are to practice line drawings - scribbles - doodles, etc.  Also, we'll be playing with monoprinting - I'll be trying that tomorrow.  Just lots of playing with pens and paint!  I know it seems a little silly - but  I've really never tried to just play with art before!  I always had to "make something", you know?  I was in Ocala today, so I picked up a Multi-Media Sketchbook to use for this class.  This way it will all be contained in one place!

Ready to Learn

Today I played with another collage piece, using some images that I bought from a couple of Etsy shops that do digital downloads.  These are fun to get, since I can save them to my photo program, then crop and print whatever I want to.  And, for such a small price, I got quite a few images to play with!

Now, about that title -- I just signed up today for a new online class taught by Alisa Burke.  It's all about learning abstract art.  I can't wait to get started!  Oh, there is so much to learn and it always gets my juices flowing!  What classes are you taking?  I'd love to know, to see if there's anything that would spark my interest.
