In The Garden

12" x 16" Watercolor

I've been working on this painting as a project for the Methodist Church where we have classes on Tuesdays. My idea was for a scene in a beautiful garden with a shaft of light shining through. I had a couple of reference photos, but I'm not sure that I'm happy with how it turned out. I don't hate it - I think it will serve it's purpose, but it's surely not one of my favorites.

Nancy, the light is very spiritual in the painting and I think you are being too critical of it. I'm sure you probably do this, but sometimes I just put the painting out of sight for a week and then look at it again. Either I am pleasantly surprised, or I see where I could improve upon it, either with some rework or doing it again.

You're right, Mary! I'm very critical of my work. Usually, I'm a very quick painter - and I know immediately if I like something or not. This one dragged on too long! I fear that is the problem! Thanks for your kind words.
