Cupcakes

5" x 7" Watercolor
I happened to check out the Different Strokes from Different Folks blog yesterday, and noticed that there was a new challenge -- Cupcakes! So, today in class, I painted my rendition. And, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I was happy that no one else has posted their paintings, since I'm always so intimidated when I see what others do. So, I'm sure that there will be a lot of better paintings showing up over the next few weeks, but I'll still feel good about mine!

Nancy, this is so well done, I want a bite! I might even attempt this, the last 2 were disasters!

Nancy, I opened your blog and thought, "Nancy, has cropped the DSFDF pic for this time...." Then, I looked closer and saw it was your PAINTING of the challenge. WOW! Fantastic rendering. You have set the limits sky high for the rest of us. I love the fact that you lightened the shadows so that the "sprinkles" show in them giving them the recognition they deserve. Your composition is delightful. And overall, meltingly inviting. Even though cupcakes are not my dessert choice, these beckon to pop on my plate or study at great length. Great job! Ruth Bodycott

I love your watercolor. I think that might be the very best medium for this subject and you have done a marvelous job! Great cropping! hehe

Feel great about this - you've done a beautiful job. I love your transparent shadows, and the way you cropped the original photograph.

Thanks for all the nice comments! I've really been in a slump lately, so it feels very nice to be in a better place!

Nancy, this is highly successful. I like your shadows and the fact that you greyed down the cupcake on the left to create a center of focus. Nice work!
