So, here's the first two mono prints that I made using the Gelli printer. I think it's pretty cool, but now I'm wishing I had bought the smaller size - 6" x 6". These are 8 x 10 prints, but I think I can cut them up and use them in collage - in fact, I've started making some bookmarks with the 2nd print of the top one. It's less vibrant, a little more subdued. Of course, I can also print out smaller prints of these from my computer that are smaller, making the design smaller. Oh, I think there is much more to be tried!

It's a Gelli day!
Well, first up, I have to show you some of my azaleas that I cut yesterday. They are blooming about a month ahead of schedule! Seems like there's a lot of that going around. And, I've got to tell you about the cool "jar" that they're in. I bought this at Mount Dora - the top of the jar is a lid filled with holes, so it's so easy to arrange flowers. Love it!
Today Bill had an appointment with the VA in Gainesville, so I went along - dropped him off - and went shopping! I had just received my Gelli Printing Plate, so I went to Michael's to try to find some cool stencils to use.
When I got back home, I watched several videos of an online class on Gelli printing by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer
Looks like so much fun! And, she uses deli sheets (which I have a million of) - and those make great collage fodder. Now, I just have to make a little run to get baby wipes for cleaning, and then I'll start mono-printing like mad! I'll show you some that I make later.

Floral Play
So, I have two 8" x 8" canvases that I want to paint something on. I decided to practice first (what a concept!) in my art journal to see if I'm capable of coming up with something that might work. This is an idea from my Robert Burridge DVD's. Paint fast, throw down color, then tweak. Not sure that I like the color choices, but I think I like the idea.

Art Blog Directory
Seth Apter has created the most wonderful thing! An art directory that has the blog link to hundreds of bloggers in the art world! Even I am on this list!!
Check it out here - I'm trying to figure out how to get the "button" to put on my sidebar.
Anyway, spend some time this weekend looking at these blogs - I'm sure that you'll find several artists that speak to you!

Barney at the ready!
I just spent the morning power shopping! I think I hit 6 or 7 stores within 2-1/2 hours! One of those stops was Best Buy, where I purchased a new camera. I got a gift card for Christmas that has been burning a hole in my wallet! My old camera works just fine, but it's kinda bulky, and it takes AA batteries that always have to be replaced - and it's only about 3 or 4 years old! Boy, how times have changed! This new camera has a lithium battery in it, just like a phone, and can be charged just like a phone or an ipod.
So, I took a photo of Barney at his usual post - watching to see just who (or what) is running around outside his house!

Miss Beautiful
Here's my latest 6" square collage. I've been having so much fun making these, but now I either have to do something else, or travel into Ocala to get more canvases!
I've been thinking of something to paint on a couple of 8" square canvases, so maybe I'll give that a go.

Sweetie
I am so in love with this little "Sweetie Pie"! I purchased several vintage digital downloads from a couple of shops on Etsy, and am so happy with the way they are giving my collages a great "feel".
I've got another kitty ready to start (this one doesn't involve wearing a dress, tho). Sometimes it's feeling like I'm in a race - but once I get started on one, I can't wait to finish!

Number 3
So, here's #3 in my little 6" square bird collage series. I'm sure having a lot of fun doing these, and I think I'm going to do a couple with a different theme. Hopefully, I'll be posting the first one sometime Monday.
It feels so good to be playing with paint, glue and papers -- and finding a way to be creative!

Another Collage
Two posts in one day! Might just be a record for me. It's been a long time since I've done this type of art, and so it's really a bunch of fun!
It did take me all day to make this - mainly because I took the time to let it dry between layers, instead of using the hair dryer. So, I watched TV and played games on the computer too!
