Overlooking the Beach

12" x 16" Watercolor
I painted yet another beach scene in class today! I truly love painting them -- it makes me feel so calm and peaceful when I paint. And so, I just might paint more! Finally got my new print rack -- so we'll be taking stuff to the gallery in Dade City on Thursday. I'll be sure to take a lot of pictures and post them so you can see this cute little gallery!

Peaceful Beach

12" x 16" Watercolor

A nice, peaceful beach scene today at class. Makes me want to be there, listening to the waves! (I had to paint the birds, cause I spattered without covering up the sky!!!)

Into the River

12" x 16" Watercolor

After 2 days, the pool finally heated up enough to swim today! I always love the first pool day -- it means that Summer is coming, and that's my favorite time! Even with swimming, I did manage to paint today -- one of the photos I took on Friday. Of course, it looks nothing like the photo, but I guess that's ok, it's just my style!

Inspiration

I live in a development that has a Private Beach entrance to the Rainbow River. It's so beautiful and peaceful there. This morning, I took some photos -- scenes that I will love to paint. The hard part now, is to figure out which one to do first!! (These are only 3 of the 16 that I took) The light was perfect, and the mist was coming off the river -- so serene!

Which one do you vote for?

Rhododendron Bud

5" x 7" Watercolor

This is my offering for this month's Virtual Sketch Date challenge. It's so much fun to paint these little challenges! The photo was submitted by Jeanette Jobson -- thanks, Jeanette!

I've been working on getting things ready to take to the gallery in Dade City later this week - and painting more notecards, so I haven't really been painting much lately. I hope to get to something tomorrow.

Home Before Dark

12" x 16" Watercolor

This was a fun challenge that Pat gave us at the end of class last week. She gave us a black & white photo of a sunset, and told us to interpret it. I was having trouble with the water, and took it to Marilee's class yesterday, and she had me take it to the sink and let the water flow over the lower half! I about croaked! But, it worked -- it got me back to the lighter parts of the water, so I could have a do-over! Now I like it!

Other exciting news - I was asked to put some of my work in a small gallery in Dade City, FL! I'll be taking some things down in the next few weeks. It's a brand new gallery in the historic downtown area, and I'm excited to see it. It'll be interesting to see if anything sells!

Wading Ibis

9" x 12" Watercolor

This is what I painted today in Marilee's class. It's funny ... we all used to paint the same thing, but lately, we've all been painting whatever we want. I think it's good, since we get to see what others are painting! And, we learn different things, based on different paintings.

Lynn Ferris Demo

Yesterday, Lynn Ferris spoke and did a demo at the Citrus Watercolor Club. I really enjoyed her! And, actually learned some things!

Here is a rather blurry photo of her in action.

And, here is the finished demo! Of course, it's not quite finished, but one of our lucky members got to take this home! Not me, though :(

Today, I'm working on a sunset for my class on Tuesday. Pat gave us a black & white photo of a sunset over water - to interpret as we will! How fun!

Mr. Rooster

9" x 12" Watercolor

So I finished Mr. Rooster -- but he's still not like I want him to be! You know how you have it in your head, but can't quite get it on paper? That's where I am with him. But, I can't work it much more, so I'll be happy for now and maybe try another one later!

Just Beachy

9" x 12" Watercolor

Today in Marilee's class, I painted this beach scene. And then, I started working on a rooster, below. I'm not finished with it yet -- I want to see what Pat thinks I should do with it tomorrow. All in all -- a very satisfying painting day!

A Walk in the Park

9" x 12" Watercolor

Today, I practiced a little landscape from a new book I have. Lately, I've been having a painter's block -- just can't seem to come up with something that I really want to paint. I wish I would get back to painting every day. Lord knows, I need the practice!

I did have some fun this week -- I went over to my sister's and learned to play shuffleboard! We got a lot of sun (in fact, I got sunburned!) and I loved it! We're going to play again tomorrow. Then it's back to painting classes on Monday and Tuesday.
