Paper Painting
So, I told you that I ordered a DVD from Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson. WOW! Is this so much fun! First, I prepared a wood panel (12" square - 1/2" deep), then drew and painted my sunflower with acrylic paints. 
Then, I tore up little pieces of painted paper (and other papers) and glued them on with gloss gel medium. I left some of the background un-collaged, but the total sunflower is covered with collage! I think it really makes the painting POP! So, I have named this first attempt, "SunPOWer"!

Wow, that is really fun! I can't wait to see your next sunflower.
I think this is awesome, Nancy! I remember doing "mosaics" when I was in grade school using small torn pieces of various colored construction paper. This is the way more beautiful grown up version and I think it is just lovely!
Hi Nancy...Elizabeth came to do a demo for the Leesburg FL Art Association in March. Check out my blog and scroll down a few days to find photo of her there. I hear a rumor she'll be teaching a workshop in Leesburg next winter. Shall I keep you "in the know" on this? Don't know how far you are from Leesburg.

ok, so what your saying is the top sunflower is painted, then the bottom one is collaged? so then how did the color get back on? did you repaint it??
