Finished the Baby Quilt
Today, I finished the baby quilt I made for my stepdaughter to give to her sister-in-law. It was kinda fun, since I haven't made a quilt for a couple of years! So, it goes in the mail next week - and I am finished!
I got a call from the Dr. office today, telling me that my surgery has been moved up - so now I have to be at the Hospital at 5:30 am on Monday! Which means that we have to be on the road by 4:45. It's all good, though. It means that I'm the first surgery of the day! He'll be all fresh and rested! And, he'll be finished with me by 8:30 or so - so more time for me to get healing before I check out on Tuesday.

A little hiatus
Sorry I haven't been able to post for awhile. My daughter and grandaughter were here for a week, so I've been off playing! It was so much fun to have them here. It's the longest time I've spent with my daughter since forever!
Today, I go to the hospital for pre-op testing. Then, on Monday, the neck surgery. Not sure yet how that will affect my painting, since I have to wear a collar for 6 weeks. Bummer! But, I will be glad to get rid of the pain!
I did work on a painting this week, just haven't finished - so I hope to post it sometime this weekend. See you soon!

Lone Palm
A quick little painting done in Pat's class on Tuesday. Busy week - went to Dr. on Wednesday and scheduled neck surgery for August 3. Not too serious - dr claims it's very low risk, but will fix the constant pain that I've been in for the last 3 months.
My daughter and 11-year old grandaughter will be coming for a week's visit next Tuesday. I'm hoping to get painting with Haley (grandaughter) - she loves to do art! Serena (daughter) is looking forward to having a relaxing week, reading, swimming and doing some cross-stitch. I don't care what we do, as long as I get to be with them!

Paulie the Pelican
This is another pelican tryout for my friend. I'm afraid that I just don't have it in me to do a commission. I'm not happy with the way this turned out, and I don't think I can do it justice for her. Maybe in a few years............
Meanwhile - maybe I'll do something fabulous tomorrow in Pat's class! Stay tuned!

Art Exchange
How lucky am I? I just received these beautiful pieces of artwork today from Barbara Sailor. She even matted the bottom one for me, and the top one is a lovely card. Be sure to check out her blog today - she has a wonderful demonstration on pouring colors. Thanks to all who participated in this exchange -- I think we all received some wonderful art! Hopefully, we'll do it again in the Fall -- stay tuned!

Lily Pads
Did a little Lily Pad painting in Pat's class today. Also started another pelican tryout for my friend. Needed to make some changes for her. I hope she'll like the new one -- and if she does, you'll be listening to me freak out about painting something so big!!! Ah, it will be good for me!
Tomorrow, I go to get an MRI on my neck. I'll be seeing Dr. next week to decide if he'll do some surgery. Yikes! But, I will do anything to stop this pain I've been having! Wish me luck!

Petey Pelican
A friend has asked me for a large (full sheet) painting of a pelican for her dining room. So, I tried out a small one today. Don't LOVE it, but I sent her a pic and we'll see what she thinks. You know, they're not the prettiest birds on the block! But, it was fun to paint! I am terrified to try to paint a Full Sheet!
